Interview: ‘Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse’ Cast

Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse header image

Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse isn’t your traditional zombie film. The horror comedy follows three boy scouts: Ben, Carter, and Augie (Ty Sheridan, Logan Miller, and Joey Morgan, respectively) and a strip club cocktail waitress, Denise (Sarah Dumont) as they try to survive the zombie apocalypse. Using their skills that they learned from boy scouts, plus Denise’s knowledge of guns, the four set out to find any fellow survivors and rescue high school seniors from the horde of zombies (ranging from humans to zombie cats) that are about to crash their seniors-only party.

Geeks Of Doom was recently invited to sit down with Sarah Dumont, Logan Miller, and Joey Morgan to talk about, well anything, from porn, to what they did to build chemistry. They also talked about what they learned from working on Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse — which hits theaters his Halloween — how they had to deal with some unruly cats, and how they would use what they learned to survive the zombie apocalypse. Check out our full interview here below.

Zombie BC #1 cover by Malcolm McClintonZombie B.C.

Cover by Malcolm McClinton
Release Date: Available now
Cover Price: $2.99

Written by Stephen Vold with art by Steven Williams, Zombie BC takes the zombie apocalypse to its earliest incarnation.

Issue #1 is a well written episode showing a caveman hunter struggle to cope with and overcome the zombie horde his village became in his absence. The artist Steve Williams did a magnificent job in keeping the eyes engaged and gave us zombies without highlighting the gore as part of the character.

The story is told by an unseen narrator and basically shapes out the same struggle every zombie story covers. Every zombie story starts with the effort to understand the threat and being what it is, I believe a caveman would have no trouble with this. A caveman would also be well suited to deal with the threat a zombie threat. Unlike almost everyone on the TV series The Walking Dead, a caveman carries a melee weapon.

Comic Review: The Returning #1

The Returning #1 cover by Andrea MuttiThe Returning #1
Written by Jason Starr
Illustrated by Andrea Mutti
Colored by Vladimir Popov
Lettered by Ed Dukeshire
Cover by Frazier Irving
Boom! Studios
Release Date: March 12, 2014
Cover Price: $3.99

It’s no secret that modern readers still enjoy zombie tales. You know, mindless undead shambling around with their next meal their only priority? (The zombies, not the readers!) Jason Starr shakes up this well-established genre and steers it in a new direction with The Returning from Boom! Studios.

Instead of falling victim to a viral outbreak or the after effects of a passing comet, the undead of The Returning are everyday people who experience near death experiences (NDE) and are then resuscitated. This common occurrence somehow changes the person’s psyche and makes them prone to extreme acts of violence—they are then labeled as one of the Changed. Our protagonist, Beth, awakens from a coma following a car accident and finds that, even though she feels the same as before, her life is suddenly turned upside down because of the NDE she experienced.

With the participation of YouTubers and indie filmmakers, Doc of the Dead also investigates the possibility and aftermath of a real-life zombie outbreak.

Simon Pegg, Tom Savini, Stuart Gordon, Bruce Campbell, and other horror and science-fiction icons provide commentary on our fascination with zombies while recognizing the inherent use of metaphor and social commentary in the sub-genre.

Daylight Saving Time: Sacrifice An Hour To The Time Zombie

Time Zombie Daylight Saving Time

Well-y, well-y, welly, well. It’s that time again! Time for my best blood, the soul-sucking, brain-eating, clock-watching, Time Zombie (Benedict Zombiepatch, if yer nasty), to make his way ’round to all those places that still abide by that antiquated old candle-saving trick of the clock: Daylight Saving Time!

I know you all think you’re moving your clock ahead for some logical, beneficial reason, but that just isn’t the case. Old Ben means to make a meal of you (so do I, but we’ll talk about that later), and if you don’t set your clock ahead, trouble’s a-comin’.
