The classic Star Wars trilogy is finally coming to DVD in its unaltered theatrical format September 12, according to starwars.com.
Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release individual two-disc sets of the original Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983), along with their respective 2004 digitally remastered versions (which differ slightly from the 1997 theatrical Special Editions).
Get ready to experience the then-pioneering motion control model work that created the attack on the Death Star in Star Wars (and that’s Star Wars, not Episode IV: A New Hope!); back intact for Jedi is Sy Snootles’s boogie tune “Lapti Nek” and the upbeat Ewok celebration song “Yub Nub” in Jedi; and among other things, Han Solo shoots first!
This release will only be available for a limited time, from September 12 to December 31, 2006.
Also on September 12 is the release of LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy video game, a whimsical action-packed sequel to the 2005 best-selling prequels video game. View the LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy video game trailer here.

Even though Lucas is definitely doing this now much more for his wallet than for the fans, my inner geek will compel me to be there to turn over my hard-earned cash on Sept. 12
