AOL Movies has posted the all-access trailer for Pineapple Express, while the film’s official site has the age-restricted trailer for the upcoming Judd Apatow-produced comedy.
Watch both trailers here below.
The film stars Seth Rogen and James Franco as Dale and Saul, two stoners who have to go on the run from a crocked cop (Rosie Perez) and a dangerous drug lord (Gary Cole) after Dale witnesses them commit a murder.
Rogen and Evan Goldberg (who previously teamed up for Superbad) wrote the screenplay, directed by David Gordon Green.
Pineapple Express hits theaters on August 8, 2008.
Considering this is an R-rated movie, the age-restricted trailer is the one to watch, as the jokes aren’t edited and it’s a better representation of what you’ll see in the film. The regular trailer really isn’t all that funny (except for the foot through the windshield, that’s a good one). While, so far, I’ve loved everything that Apatow and his gang of rising stars have done, Pineapple Express falls a little flat. Rogen seems to be playing his Knocked Up character, and I’m almost not buying Franco as the burnt-out stoner in this situation. Originally, Rogen was supposed to play Saul; perhaps it would have been better that way. I’ve only seen these two trailers, so I might be totally off based with my initial assessment. Also, I’m not a fan of Rosie Perez at all, and usually stay away from her movies when possible, but on the plus side, Pineapple Express also stars Craig Robinson (who plays warehouse worker Darryl on NBC’s The Office) and Kevin Corrigan (from TV sitcom Grounded for Life).

It’s like the future of their stoner selves from Freaks and Geeks. Looks quite humorous.
