Could the ‘Creepy Gnome’ Video Be ‘Halo’ Taking The ‘Cloverfield’ Route?

The Movie God   |  @   |

GnomeTwo videos have surfaced from Argentina in which people claim gnomes are now attacking them.

Right off the bat you just can’t help but think “What the hell is wrong with Argentina?” — but when you then watch these videos, you can see people hanging out, chatting, dancing and recording it all, like most people do. While recording, the man behind the camera sees an odd little creature in the background and begins focusing on it before people scream and the footage ends.

Because both videos — which you can watch here below — are very Cloverfield and both end the moment someone screams, it’s quite obvious that it’s all a hoax. But on the other hand, I will happily confess that whatever those little things are, they creeped the hell out of me. They are extremely small and seem to walk on two legs and sideways like a crab instead of forward. They also have a little pointed head/hat that makes them very gnome-like.

What this is actually for, who knows, but the first thing that popped into my head: Halo! Why not? These little buggers look similar to the tiny and hilarious aliens you slaughter effortlessly while giggling your way to harder challenges in any of the three Halo games. Maybe someone really wants this to happen and has begun some guerrilla marketing to get something going — sort of like the dude who made his own live-action footage (which has apparently gotten longer, clearer, and cooler than I last saw) for the Halo 3 release and to show it could work. Maybe the studios are actually doing it to get people talking in the same way Cloverfield handled their marketing!

One’s unlikely and the more is even more unlikely, so don’t take this as any some sort of announcement. I just happen to get a kick out of fairly realistically handled hoaxes like this, so I wanted to share them with you all along with my complete and utterly illogical speculation!

Check out the videos below!
