The official Star Trek prequel comic book Countdown is now available for purchase for mobile devices.
The digital versions of the 4-issue miniseries are available for Apple’s iPhone and iPod touch, and Google’s Android Mobile Devices through iVerse Media’s digital distribution technology. The first three issues of the Star Trek: Countdown mini-series are out now print and digital formats. The final installment, issue #4, will be released for both formats on April 1, 2009.
The original release date for the Star Trek: Countdown TPB was
April 29, 2009, but TrekMovie found out from publisher IDW that the trade paperback will now in released in book stores and for the Kindle II on April 7 and in comic shops on April 8.
Star Trek: Countdown is a prequel to the upcoming film directed by JJ Abrams. The miniseries story, which ties into events from the film, is presented by Abrams and plotted by the film’s screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It is written by Mike Johnson and Tim Jones, with art by David Messina, who provided the covers for the series.
Of the miniseries, Orci had said that it “lays the groundwork for what happens in the movie” and that it was their way of “passing the baton from the Next Generation characters and their movies to the new film.”
