Geek Peek: First Look At Robert Downey Jr. In ‘Iron Man 2’

Iron Man 2

USA Today has been scoring the first looks lately — first they got their hands on the first image of Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott’s Robin Hood (Read: Geek Peek: Russell Crowe In Ridley Scott’s ‘Robin Hood’); and now they have an image of Robert Downey Jr. in a little movie from Jon Favreau called Iron Man 2. Click for a larger version.

Not too much is known about what exactly Iron Man 2 will be about or what storyline it will follow, but we do know that it will take place six months after Tony Stark admitted to the world that he was Iron Man.

Here’s what Favreau had to say about that basic premise:

How many superheroes are open about their true identities? We wanted to play with that idea. But it obviously has consequences “” in his relationships, on the team. There are a lot of areas we can explore.

Along with Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow is returning as Pepper Potts, and Samuel L. Jackson is back as Nick Fury. New members of the impressive cast include: Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine; Mickey Rourke as Whiplash; Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer; and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.

Iron Man 2 is currently filming and set for a May 7, 2010 release date!

  1. Actually the picture does say alot. This is a photo of Tony Starks’ “Hall of Armor”. In the comic books Tony Stark begins to keep a prototype of each suit he designs and creates in a place in his lab known as “The Hall of Armor”. The suit on the far right should be Tony Starks’ current suit for Ironman II. He only had the Mach I,II and III in the original Ironman movie. This must be the updated suit that Jon Faveru spoke about. It does look more slim in design than the Mach III. War Machines’ should show up eventually as the fifth suit on the wall. The picture is truly fantastic! Robert Downey Jr. seems to have gotten most of his muscle and weight built back up from Sherlock Holmes. He looks amazing.

Oh, also if anyone is interested? You can go on line under – Ironmans Hall of Armor – and find where to buy photos, drawings, the comic book and the actual suit models from “The Hall of Armor”.
