Spike TV will televise the fourth annual SCREAM Awards, a 2-hour ceremony rewarding all things sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comic book, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 10 PM, ET/PT.

At this year’s awards event, which will be taped in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 17, there will be a cast appearance and world premiere footage from the upcoming Twilight sequel New Moon, as well as an appearance by the cast and creators of the HBO series True Blood, including Alan Ball, Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin, Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd, and Sam Trammell, among others.

As a special treat for those of us who miss our Battlestar Galactica, there will be a cast reunion for the beloved SciFi Channel series with a farewell tribute featuring Edward James Olmos, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, James Callis, Kate Vernon, Katee Sackhoff, Michael Trucco, Tahmoh Penikett, and executive producer David Eick.

Also on the agenda will be a tribute to comic book legend Stan Lee by Spider-Man star Tobey Maguire and horror icon director George Romero will be presented with this year’s Scream Mastermind Award, an award given to a filmmaker whose unique vision of horror, science fiction and/or fantasy is both critically-acclaimed and culturally significant.

SCREAM 2009 will present awards in 16 different categories with the J.J. AbramsStar Trek film leading the list with 17 nominations including ones for the categories of The Ultimate Scream, Best Science Fiction Movie, Best Director, Best Ensemble, Holy Sh*t Scene-of-the-Year, and a nod in the all-new Fight Scene-of-the-Year category. Other big nominees include comic book films X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Watchmen, each with 13 nominations, as well as vampire fare like Twilight (10 noms) and True Blood (9 noms).

You can log on to scream.spike.com until Saturday, October 17 to vote for your favorites.

  1. I’m a HUGE TWILIGHT FAN so I look forward to anything the cast does. Other than that I could care less about True blood or whatever is there. JUST MY OPINION.

  2. YES!!! Battlestar deserves to be spotlighted! The most awesome show ever!

  3. True Blood kicks Twilight’s fluffy, glittering snake creature butts out of the water. So I guarantee it’ll pick up more awards than Twilight, unless Spike sells themselves out to promoting the fluffy, glittering snakes. So many other, better, teen novels out there than this. Try them sometime.
