As we said in the recent post about Rose Byrne and Jason Flemyng joining the large cast for Kick-Ass director Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men: First Class, the film is about to begin production later this month and we should expect to hear who will round out the list of talents.
To keep that ball rolling, yet another name has been announced. Deadline is reporting that expert of sarcastic delivery Oliver Platt has joined the cast of the movie, which will tell a story of earlier days in the X-Men universe those of us who don’t read the comics have become more acquainted with in movies over the past decade or so.
The reports indicate that Platt — who’s currently starring in Showtime’s new series The Big C with Laura Linney — will be playing a non-mutant character known only as The Man in Black, and something tells me he will not end up being revealed as the Dread Pirate Roberts, sadly.
The movie already features a great cast consisting of names like James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, and Alice Eve, among many others.
