Our friends over at /Film discovered a gem while searching the internet recently. To be specific, they discovered a trailer for a little movie called Beauty and the Beast. The only problem is, this was not our beloved Walt Disney classic, it was a new version of the movie completely ripped off by Thai company GM Toons. Even their opening logo is fairly similar to Disney’s.
The trailer is funny beyond all words; it’s identical to Beauty and the Beast, only the animation looks like a Saturday Morning Cartoon nightmare. Add to that some atrocious voice acting and you have yourself a wonderfully amusing little viral video in the making. Even better than that is the fact that the Beast in this mess happens to also look an awful lot like a certain character from The Lion King. And it doesn’t end there. There’s a pile of these ripoffs to be seen.

At the end of the video there’s a website address that will lead you to Happy 2 Doo (translated to the best of Google’s ability). Here I realized that this doesn’t stop with ol’ Belle; no no, there’s also blatant ripoffs of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (titled Snow White and Seven Kindly Dwarfs), Aladdin (titled Miracle of the Magic Lamp), The Princess and the Frog (titled Miraculous Love of the Frog Prince), Dumbo (titled Jumbo), a sweet James Bond Winnie the Pooh rip called Bearie and the Pooh, and who knows what else. There’s even some that you might be able to make a case for being The Lion King, A Bug’s Life, and The Little Mermaid, but those are not quite so obvious.
They don’t stop with just Walt Disney movies, either. They’ve also tackled Universal’s The Land Before Time (which is a childhood favorite of mine), with a movie called The Lost World. George Lucas was an executive producer on Land Before Time, so these people better hope he doesn’t catch wind of all this.
These are so excruciatingly bad, you almost want to get them and watch the whole thing. You can only imagine how fun a party would be with these bad boys playing in the background. I’m pretty sure Disney would not appreciate them getting our business, however. You can see as many of the trailers as I could find below.
Who knows, maybe Disney has some sorta international deal with a place like this and gets a portion of the cut? Seems very unlikely, but there has to be some reason these guys are still up and running. If you ask me, someone’s ’bout to get sued.
