Updates and Clarification On DC’s ‘Flashpoint’

Flashpoint - DC ComicsAs you know by being a great reader of this site, we reported on Thursday that DC Comics released several teaser banners for the upcoming Flashpoint event from writer Geoff Johns and artist Andy Kubert. The banners didn’t have any specific images, just the Flashpoint logo, along with several taglines containing clues about the upcoming event.

But on Friday, DC released teaser images that added a little bit of clarification on some of the more mysterious taglines.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

DC Comics Flashpoint

Okay, so let’s breaks this down for a second, Bruce Wayne is not Batman, Superman never made it to Earth, whether it be that Krypton was never destroyed, or that the spaceship never reached Earth, which is not addressed in this image, but we can assume that it’s Superman. Next up we have “Their marriage was arranged to prevent war.” This appears that it’s Wonder Woman and Aquaman, but could also be Hawkgirl, or a couple of other characters, but most likely, it’s Wonder Woman. And finally, we have The Flash symbol affiliated with the phrase, “Where is his ring?”, which means that the Flash is without his Speedforce Ring.

Now, what does this all mean? Well, readers of The Flash, like those of us on Comics of Doom, it’s a little easier for us to figure out, as the latest issue features The Flash’s main villain, Professor Zoom, otherwise known as The Reverse Flash, going back in time to fix his life to make it the way he wanted it to go. That includes killing off enemies, and ultimately making it so nothing could affect his life adversely.

With this knowledge, it’s easy to see that, no, this is not going to be an Elseworld’s tale, it’s not a separate Earth, this is going to be 100% in continuity, so prepare yourself. I’d suggest picking up The Flash from here on out, and also picking up Time Masters: Vanishing Point #6 to get ready for this event. And if the stuff going on in The Flash is any indication of what were going to see in Flashpoint, I’m absolutely stoked.

But what do you think? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below!

  1. well now that brightest day “white lantern flash” is out it has a bit more info on the whole thing. Reverse Flash has broken out of prison with the help of captain boomerang who has left the rest of the rouges to go on his own. at the same time the speed force has told all the flashes from berry to kid flash to meet at berry’s old house and berry is starting to ask questions about his mothers death again. so far it seems pretty freakin awesome! also seems like something bad is going to happen to kid flash soon because one of the comics was entitled “kid flash lost.
