Another big name has been added to the cast of The Hunger Games, which stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson.
It’s been announced that legendary character actor Donald Sutherland has officially joined the cast, and will be playing the villainous President Snow. Sutherland has appeared in everything from M*A*S*H, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Animal House, and Ordinary People to more recent titles like Space Cowboys, The Italian Job, and The Mechanic.
The actor joins recent additions such as Lenny Kravitz, who’s set to play Cinna, and the impressive existing cast that consists of Lawrence, Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Paula Malcolmson, and Wes Bentley.
Collider also recently contacted Lionsgate about their exciting new project, which already has an extremely excited pre-existing fanbase due to the popular Suzanne Collins book trilogy from which the movies are adapted, and asked what their plans were for the movie and its future.
Their response should excite said fans of the books, as Lionsgate shared that they hope to make four movies in all. And with there only being three books (so far, anyway), this means the final movie would be a two-part finale as was done with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, and is being done on The Hobbit.
Of course making three more movies and creating the franchise will all really hinge on how well the first movie does at the box office.
