The latest title from id Software—creators of the first–person shooter and games like Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake—RAGE takes everything the company has learned over the past couple of decades and puts it all into trying to make the best game they’ve ever made. To prepare for its release, six behind–the–scenes videos have now been released and are here for all to see.
The game, which is being published by The Elder Scrolls and Fallout gamemasters, Bethesda Softworks, is not too unlike Fallout as it takes place in a post–apocalyptic setting. Though this catastrophic event was caused by a meteorite striking the planet. The player begins their game by awakening from a cryogenic sleep in an underground facility built to protect important people who might be able to rebuild Earth, only to discover that they’re the only one who has survived.

RAGE has RPG elements to it, but at its heart it’s is a first–person shooter with something some feel the Fallout world has been missing: vehicles. The game offers up plenty of Mad Max–style driving and racing inspired by games like Motorstorm to mix things up.
The six part behind–the–scenes videos released cover multiple aspects of the game, starting with the legacy of id Software. From there, you’ll learn about how the game begins and what it’s all about, the weaponry, the world you’ll be playing in, the enemies of the story, and the sounds (including voice acting from the great John Goodman) and artwork that went into making it.
What RAGE will become in the world of gaming is still unknown, but it looks like it has all the potential in the world.
