The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, the latest direct-to-video sequel to the 2002 prequel to The Mummy Returns that featured Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in his first lead role in a film, is set to hit store shelves this week and Universal Studios Home Entertainment has released several preview clips from the film.
You can watch all six videos, including a trailer and a behind-the-scenes clip, here below.
Canadian actor Victor Webster (Surrogates) takes over for the Rock in the title role of Mathayus. Having lost his own kingdom he becomes an assassin for sale to the highest bidder. In his travels he finds himself as the sole protector of another kingdom besieged by the evil Talus (Billy Zane, Bloodrayne) and his army of ghost warriors.
The cast also features six-time WWE World Champion Dave Bautista as Argomael (no word on whether or not he’ll be menacing Smurfs on the side), UFC star Kimbo Slice, Selina Lo, Temeura Morrison (Once Were Warriors), Krystal Vee (Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li), and erstwhile demon hunter/biker leader Ron Perlman as Egyptian king Horus (of course, of course). Dutch filmmaker Roel Reine, no stranger to DTV filmmaking with two Death Race sequels and The Marine 2 on his resume, directs the movie.
The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on January 10, 2012.
