Game Of Thrones is undoubtedly one of the best shows on television. Season 2 is set to premiere on HBO on April 1, 2012, so you have less than two weeks to catch up on the series with the Season 1 DVD or Blu-ray.
If you don’t have the time and money right now to invest in the Season 1 box set before the new season begins (although, I highly suggest you put it on your “To Do list” as it’s an amazing show and a great box set), there’s now a quick and easy solution. HBO just released a 22-minute video called “Game of Thrones: You Win or You Die,” which takes a look back at the key events from Season 1 so you’ll be up to speed for the upcoming new season. The video, which is divided into four segments, introduces all the major characters through cast and crew interviews with video clips from both seasons.
Watch the full 22-minute video here below.
Game of Thrones creators/executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with actors Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Nicolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), and Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) provide first-hand accounts about the creation of the show, the world of Westeros and the people who inhabit it.
Here’s a description of the four segments of “Game of Thrones: You Win or You Die” provided by HBO:
The four segments of the piece are “Inside the HBO Series,” featuring essential background on the series—introducing viewers to the fantasy kingdom of Westeros and its characters; “Winter Is Coming,” a recap of Season 1 featuring great scenes and performances by main characters; “Fear and Blood,” which lays out the stakes for the Iron Throne in Season 2; and “The War of the Kings,” which takes you on location to the show’s exotic settings and talks more about the twists and surprises in store throughout the new season.
“Game of Thrones: You Win or You Die,” will begin airing on HBO on Sunday night, March 25th as well as on all of HBO’s digital platforms including HBO On Demand and HBO GO. The second season of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO on Sunday, April 1 at 9pm ET/PT.
