As the Jack Ryan reboot, starring Chris Pine, inches closer towards production, director and star Kenneth Branagah is still looking for someone who could play Jack Ryan’s wife. A report from Deadline says that Keira Knightley, Evangeline Lilly, and Felicity Jones are among the actresses on a shortlist for the lead role.
It has also been confirmed that Total Recall co-stars Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel are no longer being considered for the role.
In the film, a financial genius teams up with the Russian Government to devalue the American Dollar, and the only person who can stop this from happening is Jack Ryan. Apparently the role is big, so the actress who signs on could get in on some of the action sequences.
Like the Jack Ryan role itself, multiple actresses have played the role of Jack Ryan’s wife. Anne Archer in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, Gates McFadden in The Hunt for Red October, and Bridget Moynahan in The Sum of All Fears.
Whomever decides to take the role, she would be signed on to appear in three movies. Paramount has not scheduled a production start date or announced a tentative release date as of yet, but these developments could mean that the film could start shooting soon. Expect to hear a decision on the matter soon.
Who do you think should sign on to play the role?

“Whoever” decides…Â
That would be right. Whomever is not used as a subject…
