One’s an environmentalist, one is a vegan, and the other is a rising star. You may not see it now, but the three have a lot in common. The Hollywood Reporter has word that Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Hardy will be working on an animal trafficking project. According to the trade, Hardy has come up with an idea that would play out much like Steven Soderbergh’s Academy Award-winning film Traffic, only this time characters involved in multiple storylines will be affected by their actions relating to poaching.
Warner Bros will be the studio to set up the project and is currently filing through writers to pen a script. Hardy’s inspiration for the story came from friends who served on a special anti-poacher task force.
This sounds like yet another incredible film with a dream team of actors. DiCaprio is a huge environmentalist, supporting many organizations pushing for a greener Earth. Maguire has proven time and time again that he is ready for any role. Hardy’s stock has risen so much that now is the perfect time for time to start pitching stories.
No word on if the untitled anti-poaching project requires the presence of all three actors. DiCaprio and Hardy have already worked together on Inception, so we already have an idea of what to expect from the two. We have yet to see DiCaprio and Maguire in the upcoming adaptation of The Great Gatsby. But should all three sign on for roles, it would be the first time that the three have appeared together for one film.
A lot of things could happen between now and the time WB starts to look for directors when the project finishes its scripting phase. So there is a 50/50 chance that DiCaprio, Maguire, and Hardy could appear in the film.
