*Update below*
We haven’t heard a whole lot of new castings for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the sequel to X-Men: First Class being directed by original X-Men movie director Bryan Singer. In fact, we haven’t heard any…not until now, anyway. All of the castings to this point have been either returning stars from First Class, or actors from the original trilogy coming back to reprise their roles.
But new actors had to join the party at some point, and Singer chose a great name to kick off the newcomer castings.
Singer took to the Twitter to announce that Peter Dinklage, star of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, has joined the cast of Days of Future Past. Unfortunately, he has not yet shared who the actor will be playing.
Though it hasn’t been revealed who Dinklage will be playing, the general consensus seems to be that it will be Puck, a member of Alpha Flight. At least that’s who fans seem to hope it will be.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is based on the comic book storyline of the same name and jumps from the present day, where they’re battling Mystique and her Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, and a dark future cause by the very same Brotherhood’s assassination of a senator, which leads to the U.S. being ruled by Sentinels and mutants being held in internment camps.
The returning First Class stars include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult, while Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, and Shawn Ashmore return to the roles they played in previous X-Men flicks.
What do you think of Peter Dinklage joining Days of Future Past? Do you too think he’s playing Puck, or someone else?
UPDATE: According to Variety, Dinklage will be playing a villain in the movie, though who exactly is still unknown. Even more, their sources say that he’ll be the “primary antagonist.”
