A trailer for the upcoming movie Scenic Route has been released, which stars Josh Duhamel and Dan Fogler as two close friends whose bond will be tested when they break down in the middle of the desert.
You can check out the trailer for the movie, a synopsis, and my thoughts below.
What I Learned:
Dan Fogler (Fanboys) must be really angry at Josh Duhamel(Transformers) over all three Michael Bay Transformers movies. Josh Duhamel is just angry that he’s not rumored to be in Transformers 4
Why I’ll Watch:
It’s two grown men having a curb stomp battle in the desert. On top of all that, they’re best friends. No two people on Earth can argue/fight like best friends. Now the official synopsis would lead us to believe there should be a lot of talking in this film. How else are two people supposed to get fueled up for fisticuffs? The trailer shows us the end result of their unintentional journey. Showing the visceral battle is definitely the smart move on the trailer’s part. I know Dan Fogler’s got the acting chops. Duhamel, however, has yet to prove that fact.
This trailer has been making the rounds on all the geek entertainment websites. It definitely caught my eye. Was it the blood? Was it the desolation mixed with dirt and aggression? Was it Duhamel’s post-punk mohawk? Who knows. But I’d sure like to have a look at Scenic Route, and some other movies, in person at SXSW 2013 in March. Who’s willing to start a Kickstarter for one humble reviewer?
When’s it coming?
March 9th at SXSW 2013
Mitchell (Josh Duhamel) and Carter (Dan Fogler), life-long friends who have drifted apart, are on a road trip when their old pickup breaks down, leaving them stranded on an isolated desert road. Nobody can pick apart a man like his best friend, and as the relentless elements of the desert grind them down, they start to attack each other’s life decisions with unwavering brutality. As they question who they are and who they could have been, their agitation leads to physical confrontation and ultimately knife-wielding madness, and what begins as an inconvenience becomes a very real life or death struggle.
