Just like Thanksgiving goes right into Christmas, so does the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day of the Doctor, lead right into the Doctor Who Christmas Special.
The 50th special just ended and we’re all still reeling from its greatness, but now BBC One has just released the first TV teaser trailer for the Doctor Who Christmas Special 2013 – watch it here below.
This year’s Christmas Special stars the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, in his final appearance; well, at least his final regular appearance – if this 50th anniversary special has shown us anything it’s that anything can happen! But, this year’s special is set to be new Doctor Peter Capaldi‘s first substantial appearance in the series (he was technically included in the 50th anniversary special).

If you listen closely to the voice of the woman who tells The Doctor that the name of the planet is Trenzalore, and then go back and watch “The Name of The Doctor”, where River tells the GI that The Doctor must never go to Trenzalore, the voices sound almost identical. River in the Christmas Special? Maybe. She has mentioned being in the next series with Capaldi.
