After a year and a half absence, legendary power metal band Hammerfall are set to return with their ninth studio album (r)Evolution. The band’s label Nuclear Blast have just premiered the first single “Bushido” via their Soundcloud page.

The song finds these Swedish legends returning to the epic power metal sound that characterized their first few albums. With more recent releases the band had adopted an increasingly watered down formula in search of widespread commercial acceptance.

There is no evidence of any of that here; “Bushido” is vintage, over the top Hammerfall. Here’s hoping that the style is indicative of the rest of (r)Evolution. The album will be available worldwide on September 2nd via Nuclear Blast.
