It’s just been announced that Gone Girl, How I Met Your Mother, and of course Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog star Neil Patrick Harris will be the host 87th Annual Academy Awards ceremony.
Patrick Harris will take the reins from Ellen DeGeneres, who successfully hosted the previous Oscars. The next awards are set to be handed out at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on February 22, 2015.
While his first time hosting, this of course isn’t his first time appearing at the Oscars. You can see a video of him performing at the 2010 awards below.
With this latest gig Patrick Harris continues his apparent quest to host all of the major awards ceremonies. He’s hosted the Tonys multiple times, and hosted the Emmys this year. It would be a fairly safe bet to peg him for a Grammys in the future. He’s also won multiple Emmys, a Tony, and has been nominated for multiple Golden Globes, but has not yet been nominated for an Oscar.
The 87 Academy Awards will be produced by Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, and honorary Oscars will be given to Jean-Claude Carrière, Hayao Miyazaki, and Maureen O’Hara, with Harry Belafonte receiving a Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
