Batman vs Superman

By now you may have heard of the villains that will exist in the Warner Bros.’ DC universe courtesy of the Suicide Squad cast announcement. Will Will Smith reprise his role as Captain Boomerang and go up against Ezra Miller who plays the Flash? Who knows. Whatever happens in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice could shape the future of the DC Cinematic Universe, much like The Avengers did for Phase Two of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We still know next to nothing about the plot of Batman v Superman, other than the rumor that Luthor as obtained General Zod’s body, and has been gathering pieces of the World Engine to synthesize Kryponite. Now the latest rumors claim the addition of not one, but two villains. One is an iconic Superman foe, but the other may be a bit of a strange pick for a Batman baddie. The first rumor is that Luthor has a Russian henchman who goes by the name the KGBeast. Next is that Joker is already an established character in the universe, and Superman already knows about him. Another says that meta-humans already exist in this world. Finally, Doomsday is in the film.

Let’s talk KGBeast and Doomsday first. Though he may not be as notable as Joker, Scarecrow, Bane, Two-Face, Riddler, or Mr. Freeze, the KGBeast is primarily a Batman villain. As his name suggests, the KGBeast is a special agent of the KGB, who has cybernetic enhancements, which includes a prosthetic gun on his left arm. The KGBeast has been a rumor that has been floating around for a while, so his name popping up on the radar only gives us more reason to believe that he is in the film.

Doomsday has also been a rumor that has been floating around for quite some time. For a character known to have been one of the very few who has killed Superman, Doomsday would be a great villain for the two titular superheroes to put aside their differences and defeat their nearly undefeatable foe.

As for the Joker and Superman connection, the only thing that would make sense is that Joker is up to no good in Metropolis, which Clark Kent would obviously be reporting on. But it would be the reason why Batman comes to the city. It’s just a thought.

But the meta-human bit is most interesting. According to the report, Luthor is searching for “meta-humans,” and knows of Wonder Woman’s existence. If the rumor of the search for meta-humans is true, it gives some purpose to Jason Momoa’s appearance as Aquaman, and makes it more than just a cameo that fills space.

There is still a lot of rumors to sift through, and we still have over a year to wait until the film’s release, so all will be revealed in due time.

  1. Will Smith is Deadshot, not Captain Boomerang.
