If it’s a week day, and you’re bored… Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailers are the perfect medicine, so here’s a new one.
Marvel is pretty much untouchable lately. 2014 brought us the most fun superhero movie since the original Avengers in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy, and they’ve already scored in 2015 with Netflix’s Daredevil series. This week is one close to my heart. A movie heatedly debated between me and my friend Chris for YEARS! With Avengers: Age of Ultron premiering this Friday, May 1st, let’s travel back to 2003 to mock one of the biggest Marvel flops, Ang Lee’s Hulk!
“You loved Mark Ruffalo. You tolerated Edward Norton. But admit it; you forgot about Eric Bana until I said his name just now.”
Check out that video and a bonus one here below.
HAHA, and we’re off to a great start. Everything is fair game here. Ang Lee turning the Hulk into a “2-hour think piece.” Those ludicrous monster poodles, the horrendous CGI, the stupid comic book-style transitions; you know, all those unfortunate memories you might have, if unlike me you stayed awake through the movie twelve years ago. They shred the CGI and seriously, looking at this HT, it was as bad as you remember: “one part playstation cut-scene, one part frat-guy, and two parts Shrek”.
The worst part of the movie I remember (aside from all the other parts) was Nick Nolte’s completely hammed up performance as Bruce Banner’s crazy father resulting in one of the worst superhero movie final battles ever… “at night, underwater, against a cloud-dad-thing.” What was Ang Lee thinking? He’s a two-time Best Director Oscar winner for cryin’ out loud!
Screen Junkies has over 4-million subscribers on YouTube and releases a new Honest Trailer every Tuesday, narrated by Jon Bailey. Avengers: Age of Ultron, featuring the much cooler Mark Ruffalo version of the Incredible Hulk, is in theaters this Friday. Also check out the Honest Trailer for The Avengers here below.
