The first trailer has been released for season two of The Knick, the Cinemax series from Traffic and Ocean’s Eleven director Steven Soderbergh and starring Clive Owen.
The show is a hospital drama, set in the early 1900s in New York, following a talented doctor (played by Owen) known for creating new ways to treat various medical complications while also battling some personal demons.

Here’s a full synopsis for what the show as a whole is about if you’ve not yet seen it and are considering checking it out. It’s worth noting that this synopsis was released for the first season of the show, so not everything may be accurate to season two:
SYNOPSIS:
Set in downtown New York in 1900, “˜The Knick’ is a new Cinemax drama series from Academy Award and Emmy-winning director Steven Soderbergh. It is centered on the Knickerbocker Hospital and the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff who work there, pushing the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Soderbergh directs all 10 episodes of the series’ first season.
The writing team of Jack Amiel and Michael Begler (“Raising Helen,” “Big Miracle”), who wrote the pilot for the series, serve as executive producers, along with Soderbergh, Owen, Michael Sugar (“Rendition”) and Gregory Jacobs (“Behind the Candelabra”). Michael Polaire (“Behind the Candelabra”) produces; Steven Katz (“Behind the Candelabra”) is a consulting producer.
