The Last Man On Earth‘s 2nd season premieres tonight and it’s a whole different ballgame now. At the end of last season, Phil Miller (Will Forte) had been banished from Tucson by its 6 other residents. New Phil Miller (Boris Kodjoe) had taken him there rather roughly. Carol (Kristen Schaal) returned to him because they belonged together. That was a fist pumping in the air, “Yeah!” moment. They drove off. Cut to: space and Jason Sudeikis is an astronaut named Miller who’s searching for life on Earth from his space station.

Spoilers below!

The margarita pool is back! (Told you there would be spoilers). The Last Man On Earth returns to the feel of the first couple of episodes of the 1st season, with the exception that Phil is not completely alone. He now has his soul mate Carol to join him in his crazy what-would-you-do-in-the-apocalypse bucket list, like…

– Holding a presidential press conference.

– Making presidential statue heads make out.

– Trying on First Ladies’ dresses.

They finally acknowledge the virus when they visit Carol’s old apartment. Phil wants to settle down, but Carol doesn’t feel at home anywhere, not the White House, Graceland, or her old home. They have a huge blowout, and as expected, Phil does something so stupid, it could mean life and death. And when he tries to fix it, he discovers an even bigger shock.

We also get a couple of scenes of Phil’s brother, Mike, lonely in space with 2 worms for company. Here is where we see the sibling similarities. Mikespeak is eerily similar to Philspeak. Obviously the success factor is the sibling difference. Can’t wait to see these two clash.

“Is There Anybody Out There?” brings back the fun one can have in a comedic apocalypse, while still bringing back together one of the most perfect couples of all time. Come on! They make the same jokes. I seriously knew they belonged together, and was upset when he kept trying to cheat.

If you have not yet caught ths unique dark comedy, you can catch season 1 on Hulu, and start DVR’ing season 2 starting with tonight’s episode.

The Last Man On Earth season 2 premieres tonight at 9:30pm ET on FOX.
