DC Makes Bold Move To Reshoot All Films With Funko Pop! Figures

In all areas of the consumer world, money rules supreme. And no company knows that more than DC Entertainment. With live-action film after live-action film being panned by critics and fans alike, the Warner Bros. subsidiary has decided to create an entirely new way of bringing their iconic superheroes to life.

To be more precise, DC announced today that they have teamed up with Funko to create several amazing new lines of Pop! figures that will be used first and foremost to recreate their previous live-action movies as stop-motion animated films.

Centering on DC’s success with their animated films and the aforementioned lackluster live-action movies, this new endeavor seeks to find the perfect harmony between the two previous styles. Using the upcoming new lines of figures in lieu of actual actors not only reduces costs, but also enables the company to move forward with a multitude of franchises simultaneously. Additionally, the use of voice actors to create the dialogue for each new series is instrumental in keeping the movies both cost effective and flexible. No longer needing to spend tens of millions of dollars to get the right directors, actors, and special effects teams means more profit and less risk, something every company strives to achieve.

But DC isn’t the only company to come out of this smelling like a rose. No, Funko negotiated vigorously and has retained full licensing for the figures in all of their various costumes and forms, with no exceptions. That means a multitude of new collectibles for the Pop! aficionado, to say the very least. No longer will collectors simply purchase one or two variations, but instead will be overwhelmed with every costume and wardrobe variation from each film.

If successful, we could see a cultural shift in what we perceive as entertainment. Under the perfect conditions, could this be the beginning of the end for Hollywood and the ridiculously overpaid actors we have watched and followed for the past century? Just a little food for thought.

As events warrant and information is released, we will keep you updated here at Geeks Of Doom. A special page has been set up here to provide up-to-the-minute news and updates. Also, check out the pictures below if you are unfamiliar with the Pop! figures.
