A couple of months back it was reported that The Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks was set to star in the Power Rangers movie reboot as the villain Rita Repulsa.
Now we have our first look at Banks in full costume as the baddie, and she looks much different from the version seen in the image above. Banks herself describes it as a “modern and edgy re-imagining” of the original’s look.
You can see the image of Banks as Repulsa below.
This is the first time Banks has actually played a villainous character, believe it or not, and speaking to People, who shared this first image, she says she’s most looking forward to “world domination – and being unpredictable as a character.”
The new movie is based on the popular ’90s TV show of the same name, and features the five Rangers—Red, played by Dacre Montgomery; Blue, played by RJ Cyler; Pink, played by Naomi Scott; Yellow, played by Becky G; and Black, played by Ludi Lin—trying to stop Repulsa, an “evil humanoid alien witch,” from conquering the planet.
Power Rangers is currently scheduled for release on March 24, 2017. Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) directs.
