Last week on The Flash, Barry told Felicity (Grant Gustin, Emily Bett Rickards) the whole convoluted tale of his flashpoint paradox, with masterful storytelling editing. The enjoyment of this season thus far are the subtle changes wrought by the unfixed fix (Diggle’s son?), with the exception of Cisco (Carlos Valdes) being morose. Earth-2 Flash (John Wesley Shipp) grabbed him to give him a dad lecture about moving on. Barry came clean to his friends, who took it with varying degrees of grace and anger. Alchemy woke up Rival who tried to kill him, but Barry beat him. Barry’s new lab mate, Julian (Tom Felton), hates him.

Spoilers below.

The Flash 3.3 “Magenta” review: Barry is excited about his date with Iris. Julian is being a douche about it. Barry is so nervous, he makes flower art. She wants Barry, not the Flash. But why is it awkward? First, a 3-second robbery, then they are summoned to the lab.

A breach appears and Wells and Jesse “Quick” (Yay! Tom Cavanagh and Violett Beane) jump through. Jesse is a speedster. Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) is very disappointed, causing Barry to warn Joe (Jesse L. Martin). Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) takes them to the speed lab. Speed lab? Harry figures out the changes real quick because theye don’t remember the changes that have happened on Earth-1. He is completely bugging out about Jessy wanting to be a superhero.

The “Magenta” is another Alchemy project. She attacks her foster dad. “Sorry John, Frankie’s gone.” And a streetlight pops on through, as her eyes flash. She doesn’t remember.

Wally and Joe talk. That Joe is the superhero of dads. Somehow he makes Wally feel better about not being a speedster through loving words and encouragement. Best. Dad. Ever.

Julian yells at the “magenta” girl and she starts bending metal to kill him. The Flash saves him and tries to help her, but she is struggling between her two personalities.

Joe to Barry: “You’re like a second daughter. You overshare your feelings.” Ahahaha!!

Caitlin relents and goes to talk to Jesse. The tables turned to feminist talk and Jesse is more angry. Then Wally tries to talk to her. And then does something dumb. You know? When this character was first introduced, I thought he was going to be another whiny kid character, but Lonsdale manages to convey so much without saying anything, quite rare in such a young actor.

Everybody is yelling at everyone else at the lab – Cisco’s face is funny. Caitlin tells Harry off and he is silent. And then Wells and Barry have a heart to heart.

Iris visits Magenta’s foster father, and realizes he’s an abusive jerk. Iris also realizes that Magenta is still gunning for him, cemented when she looks out the hospital window and sees a tanker being lifted in the air. She hits the panic button on her phone, an improvement in this timeline “because we kept getting kidnapped.”

Harry: “Run Jesse Run!” Jesse helps Barry, and he convinces Frankie/Magenta to stop and she does. She tells them about the dreams and Alchemy. Both Wally and Caitlin have looks on their faces. We know what is going to happen.

Wells gives Jessy a Flash suit.

“Date: The Sequel” is better, but is still interrupted.

Damn! I know that Draco Malfoy is Alchemy! This isn’t a spoiler. I’m just convinced of it.

Awesome, awesome episode! Three in, and I already feel like this is the best season ever.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8:00pm ET on The CW.
