Just a quick reminder for everyone before you head off into the weekend seeking adventures. AMC’s post-apocalyptic steampunk martial arts drama Into the Badlands is set to return for season two this weekend, kicking off Sunday night at 10:00PM after the latest episode of The Walking Dead.
For those unfamiliar with the show its first season was a hell of a lot of fun and did have its fan base, but struggled to find a large audience, especially after The Walking Dead‘s season ended. This led to much uncertainty when it came to the question of whether there would be a second season, and a painful wait for fans before AMC finally decided to give it another go. Because of this, the more eyes watching when the show returns the better, of course, and better than that is those eyes continuing to watch after this season of Dead concludes.
If you’ve never seen Into the Badlands before, never fear! There’s still plenty of time to catch up believe it or not. All six episodes of the first season are re-airing starting Sunday morning at 9:30AM EST on AMC before season two kicks off later that night. Or even easier, if you have Netflix, you can mini-binge all six episodes right now.
Here’s a set-up of the first season’s story:
Centuries from now, a feudal society has emerged in the wake of civilization’s destruction. This area is now called the Badlands and is uneasily divided among seven rival Barons. Each Baron enforces their iron rule with the aid of loyal armies of trained assassins known as Clippers.
The most lethal of the Badlands’ Clippers is Sunny (Daniel Wu) “” the Regent (Head Clipper) and most trusted advisor of Baron Quinn (Marton Csokas). For decades, Quinn has been unchallenged as the Badlands’ most powerful Baron; however, the territory’s newest Baron, The Widow (Emily Beecham), has begun testing his appetite for a fight.
One day, Sunny rescues M.K. (Aramis Knight), a teenage boy who has survived a deadly ambush. Sunny soon comes to understand that the teen harbors a dark secret and has a hefty bounty on his head. Together, they will embark on an odyssey that could mean the difference between chaos and enlightenment for everyone in the Badlands.
