More news rolls in from San Diego Comic Con, this time about everyone’s favorite speedster, Barry Allen and CW’s The Flash. Perhaps the most consistently entertaining and engrossing of the DC(TV)EU, The Flash ended its third season with Barry (Grant Gustin) saving Iris (Candice Patton) from death at the hands of Savitar. Unfortunately, as often happens with Flash’s super speed, space and time were disturbed causing Barry to surrender himself to the Speed Force. Fear not, though as The Flash returns this October for season 4 and according to SDCC 2017, he’ll have new villains and actors to deal with.
According to the WBTV panel and Deadline, Neil Sandilands (The 100, The Americans) will join the cast as The Thinker, the alias of DC villain Clifford Devoe. As evident by his nickname, Devoe is a metahuman with super smarts, who will use his intelligence to try to defeat Central City’s favorite hero. Even more exciting to an old Rodriguez/Tarantino junkie like myself is the inclusion of Machete himself, Danny Trejo. Trejo will play Breacher, a bounty hunter from Earth 19 who may pose the biggest threat to Cisco (Carlos Valdes) as he is also the father of Cisco’s love interest Gypsy (Jessica Camacho). Finally, Kim Engelbrecht (Dominion) will play The Mechanic, an engineer who makes weapons for The Thinker.
Also shown at SDCC 2017 was a trailer for the upcoming season, in which Iris, Cisco and the Star Labs team deal with metahumans without Flash’s help including a samurai with a special sword promising to kill everyone if Flash doesn’t show up… someone smells a grand return… The Flash returns to the CW on Tuesday night, October 10th.
