Jimmy Fallon made lip sync battling cool on The Tonight Show and soon it was spun off into its own series on Spike TV. Likewise, James Corden introduced the Carpool Karaoke segment to the world in The Late Late Show and now Carpool Karaoke is a new show with Billy Eichner on Apple Music. On the next episode, Eichner is joined by one of the most legendary bands of all time, Metallica.
Check out the preview video of the episode here below:
Eichner takes the front passenger’s seat alongside driver, frontman James Hetfield as guitarist Kirk Hammett, drummer Lars Ulrich, and bassist Robert Trujillo ride in the backseat headbanging to “Enter Sandman.” Things turn silly when Eichner proposes singing Disney songs, and of course Hetfield is quick to turn them into growling metal lyrics. And one thing is clear, there are fans of Metallica everywhere, including behind the counter at a supermarket deli.
This is yet another step in Metallica’s massive return to prominence in 2017. Their latest album Hardwired… to Self-Destruct went platinum and they are still selling out stadiums on their Summer tour. They even played the Grammy Awards show with Lady Gaga. Despite the accolades, I’m sure Carpool Karaoke will be the highlight of their near four-decade career.
Carpool Karaoke with Billy Eichner and guest Metallica debuts this Tuesday. New episodes will be released on Apple Music each Tuesday.
