When I was growing up in the mid to late 1980s, few people were as cool as David Hasselhoff. He was Michael Knight, a crimefighter with a talking robotic Pontiac Trans Am in Knight Rider. Then he was Mitch Buchannon, the head lifeguard on Baywatch, a show that defined a generation thanks in part to slow-running gorgeous lifeguards in red one-piece bathing suits. A musical icon in Germany, to younger readers, “The Hoff” is probably best known for his supporting roles in the Sharknado franchise and his cameo in this year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Debuting today on DVD and Digital HD, he stars in perhaps his greatest role as… himself, in the comedy Killing Hasselhoff.
The studio has given us an exclusive clip from the film to debut – watch it here below!
The comedy, co-produced by Hasselhoff himself, stars Ken Jeong as a nightclub owner Chris, who needs to pay back a loan shark, so he comes up with a unique and hilarious way to get the money… kill the star in his celebrity death pool, David Hasselhoff. The Hoff is exactly the type of celebrity you’d expect. As you can see in the clip below, he is egotistical to a fault, even telling his manager Barry (Jon Lovitz) he wants to BLEEP himself. He even drives a modern version of K.I.T.T.
Along with this exaggerated version of The Hoff and a supporting cast of talented comic talent like Rhys Darby, Jim Jefferies, and Ron Funches, as well as plenty of cameos including Baywatch girl Gena Lee Nolin, Howie Mandel, and Rick Fox, Killing Hasselhoff is guaranteed to be entertaining and funny.
Killing Hasselhoff, written by Peter Hoare and directed by Darren Grant (Diary of a Mad Black Woman), is available now on DVD and Digital HD and contains plenty of behind-the-scenes fun.
What started out as a regular week quickly turns into the worst few days of his life when Chris (Ken Jeong), a struggling nightclub owner, fails to pay back a loan shark and decides the only way to get the money is to kill his pick in the annual “Who Will Die This Year” celebrity death pool: David Hasselhoff. Aided by his friends Fish (Rhys Darby) and Tommy (Jim Jefferies), Chris desperately tries everything he can to off the master of slow-motion running and claim the jackpot. But the task is not as easy as he thought, especially when your target is The Hoff!
