We all know that Dwayne Johnson can be a tough guy in and out of the ring, but he’s never faced an opponent quite as intimidating as the giant creatures in Rampage, which Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for.
Based on the coin-op arcade name of the same name, the film sees Johnson take on a new kind of video game where he will face a towering gorilla, a fearsome crocodile, and a flying wolf. Yup, the wolf flies. But at least Johnson’s big arm will save us. Check out the full trailer below.
As far as big-budget blockbuster spectacles go, Rampage lives up to it. Johnson knows how to deliver on the fun in these kinds of films, which is why, despite the ridiculousness of Rampage, it looks like it will be a hit. Attach the actor’s name to the movie, and you are more than likely getting a box office hit.
At first, it looked liked the devices that made these creatures large were of alien origin. But now, it looks like it’s more grounded than that – if you can call it grounded. A mysterious scientific corporation has been using these devices to test on certain targets. Of course, things get out of hand, and they are unable to handle their creations. So enter Johnson who will act as the savior who will protect us from these creatures.
Directed by Brad Peyton (San Andreas), Rampage also stars Naomie Harris, Jake Lacy, Joe Manganiello, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Primatologist Davis Okoye (Johnson), a man who keeps people at a distance, shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry transforms this gentle ape into a raging monster. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered alpha predators. As these newly created monsters tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to half a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.
Warner Bros. will release Rampage into theaters on April 20, 2018.
