Amazon Prime Video

Amazon has announced the full lineup of movies and television shows set to arrive on Prime Video in the new month.

This includes a few highlighted titles coming to the streaming service as well as a little bit about them, followed by the rest of the incoming movies and TV shows and the date they’ll be added to Prime Video. All of the Amazon Arrivals for January 2019 can be found below.

If you have resolved to get more out of your Prime membership in 2019, Prime Video definitely can help. In January alone, the new offerings include some of 2018’s best-reviewed movies, a past Oscar winner and several sharp series. Here are the month’s top 10 additions.

1) Beautiful Boy (Prime Original) — January 4

Steve Carell and Timothee Chalamet star in this heart-wrenching drama about the relationship between a father and his drug-addicted son. This Prime Original movie is based on a true story. (R)

2) The Grand Tour, Season 3 (Prime Original) — January 18

Car lovers will rejoice, but you don’t have to be a gearhead to appreciate this Prime Original. Wisecracking hosts Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May return for the new season. (TV-14)

3) Informer (Prime Original) — January 11

A young second generation British-Pakistani man becomes an informant for a British counterterrorism agent in this Prime Original thriller. The complex, character-driven story unfolds over six episodes. (TV-MA)

4) Law & Order: Special Victims Unit — January 1

One of the longest-running dramas in network history is coming to Prime Video. Emmy-winner Mariska Hargitay leads the cast. Enjoy seasons 1 and 5 through 19, included with your membership. (TV-14)

5) Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory — January 1

The ageless family favorite revolves around Gene Wilder’s unforgettable performance as the impossibly eccentric Mr. Wonka seeking an heir for his candy empire. Roald Dahl adapted the screenplay from his own novel. (G)

6) Leave No Trace — January 3

This well-received indie paints a close portrait of a war-scarred veteran and his teenage daughter trying to live off the grid in Portland, Oregon. Rated 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. (PG)

7) Eighth Grade — January 13

A sleeper hit that may well end up in the Oscar Best Picture race, Eighth Grade tells the story of a 13-year-old girl (Elsie Fisher) struggling to negotiate her last week at a suburban middle school. (R)

8) A Beautiful Mind — January 1

Ron Howard’s Oscar-winning biopic of mathematician John Nash offers a touching study of the intersection of genius and madness. Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly star. (PG-13)

9) Fahrenheit 11/9 — January 19

Documentarian Michael Moore turns his attention to the rise of Donald Trump and the deepening political divisions in the United States. As always, Moore’s work comes with wry humor and a decidedly leftward slant. (R)
