By Hannah Capin

Cleves, as her best friend Henry the human magnet calls her, is the quirkiest girl in school. But she knows that Anna Boleyn did not try to kill Henry resulting in her own death and that of her brother George. When Henry’s third girlfriend, the effervescent Katie Howard, dies as well, journalist Cleves is on the case. Can she find the answers she is looking for before she becomes part of the club?

More below about The Dead Queens Club by Hannah Capin.

This delightful YA novel by Hannah Capin weaves teen and medieval angst with such fun! I loved The Tudors when it was on and my fascination with Henry VIII has never waned, so when this book fell into my hands, I devoured it. Even the smaller connections – Parker Rochford, girlfriend of the late George Boleyn, Erin Willoughby and Brandon Suffolk (think), Tom Culpepper – everyone means something. The intrigue of high school mixed with the intrigue of courtly life sucks you in.

Although Capin takes her characters from history, she gives them fresh young voices, and you are swept up in their over-the-top problems, meaner than the meanest mean girl. Although history might have handed you the real villain, the story is weaved so thoroughly, you really think almost anyone could have done it, including the victim, herself. This book is highly entertaining and fun.

Official Synopsis:

If your school’s homecoming king had a little too much in common with Henry VIII, would you survive with your head still attached?

You’d think being the new girl in a tiny town would equal one very boring senior year. But if you’re me””Annie Marck, alias Cleves””and you accidentally transform into teenage royalty by entering Lancaster High on the arm of the king himself? Life becomes the exact opposite of boring.

Henry has it all: he’s the jock, the genius and the brooding bad boy all in one. Which sort of explains why he’s on his sixth girlfriend in two years.
