Avengers: Endgame

Okay, it is pretty safe to say that Avengers: Endgame is the definitive end for some characters. So for the sake of not revealing spoilers, we won’t say who these characters are until after the jump. But for those who want to know or at least have an idea of which characters will appear again – because they have sequels – we kind of have a small tiny glimpse of what is to come.

For instance, we know that Marvel Studios is working on sequels for Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Guardians of the Galaxy. But what else could happen to some of the heroes that appeared in Endgame in upcoming films or on shows that will appear exclusively on Disney+? A lot actually. Find our more in the report below.

THR was able to uncover some details regarding what will happen post-Avengers: Endgame. For films, we already know that Spider-Man: Far From Home is going to be released. However, Black Panther 2 and Doctor Strange 2 are all currently under development. The two sequels have no release date as of yet. Both Chadwick Boseman and Benedict Cumberbatch have “one more option apiece, which will result in sequels to their solo movies, say sources.”

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 was actually supposed to start shooting earlier this year, but hit a major roadblock when Disney fired James Gunn over offensive tweets. However, a deal was struck between the two that would allow Gunn to direct Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, which should begin production sometime next year.

And even though Black Widow died in Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson will return to reprise the titular role in her own standalone film. She would be earning a $20 million range for both starring and producing. Chris Hemsworth, who played Thor, signed a deal with Marvel for five films back in 2010. That deal was then re-negotiated in 2017 to include both Infinity War and Endgame, which has him in the $15 to $20 million range for the next phase. This seems to bring some truth to the unconfirmed reports that Thor 4 is on the way or that the Asgardian god of thunder will have a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Captain America’s Chris Evans signed on for five pics, not including cameos, also renegotiated his deal to the sum of the $15 million to $20 million range. However, it looks like he is passing the S.H.I.E.L.D. to Anthony Mackie (The Falcon), who will join Sebastian Stan (The Winter Soldier) in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), who all will get their own respective shows, have signed new deals with Marvel for their TV series, said to be for six to eight episodes, which are separate from their film deals.

But it’s Robert Downey Jr., who has been with the MCU since the very beginning when it first launched in 2008, that is getting the biggest payday of them all. According to the report, the Iron Man actor’s role in last year’s Avengers: Infinity War earned him a cool sum of $75 million. Which seems to overshadow the $5 million he got from Spider-Man: Homecoming for just three days of work.

Additionally, Marvel Studios is planning on releasing The Eternals, which signed on a few big names like Angelina Jolie and Kumail Nanjiani. They also have Shang-Chi, which will be directed by Short Term 12 helmer Destin Cretton.

Needless to say, it is going to be a very interesting next few months for Marvel Studios. Obviously, there is still one more film left before the end of the year. But a lot of people will be wondering what will be next for Marvel, especially since Endgame brought an end to so many of their favorite heroes. We will just have to wait and see.
