Rooster in The Secret Life Of Pets 2

Universal Pictures has released the final trailer for The Secret Life Of Pets 2. The first film explored the daily lives of pets while their owners weren’t around. Basically a pet’s version of Toy Story. However, the sequel looks a little more promising now that these pets are going to the farm. No, not that kind of a farm, but the one where it is a huge contrast to the domesticated life they once knew. Here they will encounter new animals and new smells. Check out what sort of adventures await these city animals in the new trailer here below.

This final trailer reveals plenty of plot points that show that this is much more than a trip to a farm. For one thing, Max (voice of Patton Oswalt, who replaces Louis C.K.), must now adapt to his new owner’s husband and a toddler joining the family. As you might expect, this causes a bit of anxiety for the canine critter. Something that Duke (Eric Stonestreet) doesn’t seem phased by.

So a trip to the farm may help ease some of that anxiety. With the help of a brave and noble dog (Harrison Ford), Max finds the courage to bring out the big dog in him.

Then there are the other adventures that that will see Chloe (Lake Bell) help Gidget (Jenny Slate), a dog, find her inner cat. Meanwhile, Snowball (Kevin Hart) assumes the identity of Captain Snowball, his larger than life superhero persona. It’s not clear how any of these stories tie into Max’s story, but I’m sure it will somehow work itself out.

Here’s the official plot synopsis:

Packed with Illumination’s signature irreverence and subversive humor, this new chapter explores the emotional lives of our pets, the deep bond between them and the families that love them, and answers the question that has long intrigued every pet owner: What are your pets really doing when you’re not at home?

Voice talents include Dana Carvey, Garth Jennings, Ellie Kemper, Bobby Moynihan, Tiffany Haddish, Nick Kroll, and Pete Holmes.

The first Secret Life Of Pets grossed $875 million worldwide. And based on how well that did, the sequel could end up doing better.

Written by Brian Lynch (Minions) and helmed by returning director Chris Renaud, The Secret Life of Pets 2 opens in theaters on June 7, 2019.
