Disney+, Disney’s upcoming exclusive streaming service, promises to bring its subscribers over a thousand hours of content, giving them access to much of its library from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm. But they will also be bringing in original content to their fans, such as Noelle, a new lighthearted Christmas movie. In the holiday comedy, Anna Kendrick stars as Noelle Claus, the daughter of Santa Claus, and Bill Hader as Nick, her brother and heir to the Santa title.
While at the D23 Expo on Friday, writer and director Marc Lawrence, along with Kendrick and Hader, showed off a little bit of the film. Check out the trailer for the movie here below.
In Noelle, the title character sees that her brother Nick is already overwhelmed by the responsibilities of his new job as Santa, so she innocently suggests that he take the weekend off. But when Nick fails to return, it’s up to Noelle to venture out to find him. Her adventure has her leaving the chilly weather of the North Pole to go to sunny California, where she has to adjust to the change, not only in culture but in the way in which Santa is used to spread Christmas cheer.
Billy Eichner, Shirley MacLaine, and Julie Hagerty also star.
Noelle will debut when Disney+ launches later this year on November 12, 2019, just in time for the holidays.
In Disney+’s holiday comedy “Noelle,” Kris Kringle’s daughter is full of Christmas spirit and holiday fun, but wishes she could do something “important” like her beloved brother Nick, who will take over from their father this Christmas. When Nick is about to crumble like a gingerbread cookie from all the pressure, Noelle suggests he take a break and get away…but when he doesn’t return, Noelle must find her brother and bring him back in time to save Christmas.
