Geek Reaction: Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace In 3D

Star Wars The Phantom Menace 3D

Ever since I was a little kid I have always loved Star Wars. In fact, it was one of the biggest experiences of my childhood having my dad show the movies to me at home when I was about 6 or 7. I automatically fell in love with not only the characters, but this story of good and evil set in space. After the special editions of the original trilogy were released I found out that they were going to release the first of the prequels in two yrs and I was so excited, but when it happened I was a bit disappointed with the first prequel movie — Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace — itself.

Flash forward to present day. It has been 13 years since Star Wars: Episode I: The Phantom Menace was released and now since everything is going 3D, I guess creator George Lucas had to jump on the bandwagon and convert the film to 3D — the 3D reversion was released in theaters this weekend.

One of my favorite independent comic publishers in recent years has been Dynamite Entertainment. They have not disappointed me with any of their titles, so I decided to check out Warriors of Mars #1 to see what it was about.

The story is about a man from Earth named Gullivar Jones who is an officer in the Navy from New York City. Jones, wishing that he didn’t have to live in the corrupt world he lives in, is transported to Mars. When he first arrives he meets local townsman from the city of Seth who then tell him to meet the king. While meeting the king, the city comes under attack in which the king’s daughter falls into a canal of water and Jones rescues her winning favor with the king.

When it comes to comics relaunches can be hit or miss, but a few years ago when Dynamite Entertainment released their new Green Hornet series I started reading it and instantly fell in love with it. Green Hornet Annual #2 is a great annual one-shot story that not only gets readers caught up on what has been going on, but it’s a great jumping-on point for new readers.

Ever since I was a kid I have always loved G.I. Joe and when I heard that the comics were coming back, well I just had to start reading them again. It has been a rough time for our band of heroes since they resurfaced back in 2010 and they are just now reeling from the aftermath of the Cobra Civil War. Enter Snake Eyes #9 where we see our beloved heroes in action trying to stop Cobra from controlling a country in Asia known as Nanzhao. We learn that the country is a capital for the drug trade which begs to ask the question “Why is Cobra here?” Two Joe teams are sent in to investigate and take out the threat. I don’t want to go to far into detail, because let’s face it Snake Eyes #9 is just a fun book.
