Microsoft Announces New ‘Halo’ Project Produced By Ridley Scott

During the big Xbox One reveal, it was announced that a new live-action Halo TV series was on the way involving Steven Spielberg. Now Microsoft has announced another new Halo project.

In a brief e-mail sent out, the company revealed plans for a new digital feature project produced by Ridley Scott that will be released later this year. They also pointed out that this is a completely separate project from the TV series.

Another Xbox One exclusive shown off at E3 was of course the next game in the Halo franchise.

The game isn’t specifically identified as Halo 5, interestingly enough, but it’s assumed to be the next entry in the new Reclaimer trilogy from 343 Industries that began with Halo 4.

As part of the unveiling of the next generation Xbox console, Xbox One, an interesting announcement was made regarding Halo.

Halo being a part of a Microsoft event is no big surprise, and with a new trilogy in the game franchise currently being made by 343 Industries, you’d assume that the next game might show up today. But that was not the case.

Instead, 343 head Bonnie Ross was on hand to announce a brand new live-action Halo TV series, being made with none other than Steven Spielberg. Continue below to see a video of the announcement.

Video games are certainly making a significant mark in the realms of entertainment, especially when it comes to financial gain.

One of the most anticipated games of 2012 is of course developer 343 Industries and Microsoft’s Halo 4, which was just released recently. In only 24 short hours, the game made over $220 million, on its way to over $300 million in its first week of release.

Wait, What? ‘Halo 4’ Multiplayer Will Require 8GB Install

Apparently the best indication that a new generation of gaming consoles is on the horizon is when games of the current generation start requiring jaw-dropping amounts of hard drive space to play.

A recent update to Battlefield 3‘s multiplayer stood out for its hefty 2GB size, requiring players to wait impatiently for the update to finish, but another game might just force you to have to run out and do some errands or take up arts and crafts as you wait for it to install.

According to 343 Industries, the developers who took over the Halo franchise from Bungie, Halo 4 will require an 8 GB install in order to take part in its multiplayer action. That’s more than it takes to install almost any other full game to your hard drive, and nearly half the 20GB hard drive many people likely still have.
