During the Television Critics Association summer press tour last week a panel was held for Eli Roth’s History of Horror, a series coming to AMC this Halloween season which explores all things horror, similar to the recent James Cameron’s Story of Science Fiction.

Taking part in the panel was none other than Robert Englund, the horror legend best known for playing Freddy Krueger in the A Nightmare on Elm Street movies. While there he took the opportunity to reveal that over the years he’s come up with his own vision for an Elm Street movie, and the very different Freddy that would terrorize the dreams of his victims in it.

Click on over to the other side to see if Englund’s Nightmare on Elm Street is something you’d want to see happen.

Wes Craven

I was 6 years old. My parents were in the living room, and I snuck into their bedroom (where the only other TV was) to watch A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 3: Dream Warriors on Channel 11’s “movie of the week.” I met Freddy Krueger, and I was hooked forever. At 33, I am a horror fanatic and gorehound, and I owe it all to Wes Craven and his most intimidating creation. Tonight, with a tear in my eye, I’m writing that Wes Craven, one of the pillars of the horror film world for over 40 years, has passed away from brain cancer, according to Deadline. He was 76.

More on this legendary icon, and watch him in the video here below talking about what he loved.

Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy Kruger

Five years ago, Platinum Dunes attempted to revive A Nightmare On Elm Street with a brand spanking new reboot for a younger generation. However, the film, starring Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Kruger, wasn’t very well-received by critics or audiences, and bombed at the box office. But when it comes to horror icons of those cheesy and campy slasher films of 80s, they do not stay dead for long.

New Line Cinema will once again be stirring up a few nightmares in an all new reboot of A Nightmare On Elm Street, which will reportedly ignore the damage that was done in the 2010 film.

More on the story below.

Happy Birthday To The Original Freddy Krueger Robert Englund

Freddy Krueger Robert Englund

Happy 65th birthday today to Robert Englund, the character actor best known for his portrayal of the iconic horror-meister Freddy Krueger, who terrorized, slashed, and serial-killed his way through characters’ bad dreams in Wes Craven’s A Nightmare On Elm Street film series.

Englund, born in Glendale, CA, in 1947, began acting at the age of 12 in a local children’s theater program in his hometown. He stayed with acting, and by the 1970s, he was fresh out of drama school, looking for leading man parts. Englund was one of the many struggling actors at the time who tried out for the role of Luke Skywalker in George Lucas’ epic sci-fi classic Star Wars. After bouncing around Hollywood for a few more years, being typecast in smaller roles as either a nerd or a redneck character, he finally landed a role in 1983 on the original version of the aliens-attack-Earth TV series V. Portraying the character of Willie, a kinder, gentler, almost lovable alien so to speak, it was a stark contrast to the typical bloodthirsty devoid of scruples stereotypes of how alien characters were usually portrayed in various mediums. A year later, after V ran its course and was cancelled, Englund landed the role which brought him fame and iconic status, that of Freddy Krueger.
