Thor: The Dark World Header

Thor: The Dark World was one of the most fun times to be had at the theater last year and another not-so-rare case of a sequel surpassing the original on nearly every level. The movie will be hitting Blu-ray next month, so obviously it’s high time that a list of the bonus features we can expect be released. These supplements were recently rated by the British Board of Film Classification and the Blu-ray is set to include the usual audio commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, behind-the-scenes featurettes, a first look at the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and a gag reel.

Plus, since this is a Marvel Studios release, it looks as if we’ll be getting the latest Marvel One-Shot short film, which is titled All Hail the King and runs a reported 16 minutes.

New Sarah Connor Emilia Clarke

Recently we found out that Zero Dark Thirty star Jason Clarke was in talks to take on the role of John Connor in the upcoming Terminator reboot said to be titled Terminator: Genesis. At the time, the search to find the new Sarah Connor had come down to two actresses: Emilia Clarke (no relation), and Brie Larson.

Now the choice has been made. It’s being reported that Emilia has officially been chosen to take on the iconic Sarah Connor role, despite being almost a couple of decades younger than the actor playing the part of her son. Little is known about the movie, but obviously you can deduce that some time jumping will be going on.

SDCC 2013: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes panel: Jason Clarke

The reboot of the Terminator franchise is moving right along, and some intriguing names are involved. The movie, which is said to be titled Terminator: Genesis, will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones), and now it appears an actor has been chosen to take on the iconic role of John Connor.

According to sources, Jason Clarke, who is quickly making a name for himself after memorable performances in movies like Zero Dark Thirty and The Great Gatsby, has entered into talks for the role. If cast, the actor would join Arnold Schwarzenegger, who is expected to return (though it’s not known how exactly yet).

Thor: The Dark World Header

My, how the time just flies. I had forgotten that the release for the latest Marvel Studios blockbuster Thor: The Dark World was getting close. Not because I wasn’t looking forward to it – I am a committed Marvel movie fanboy – but because lately I’ve been terribly busy at home. In a little over two weeks the second solo screen adventure of Chris Hemsworth‘s mighty thunder god with the impeccable blonde mane will hit theaters from Barcelona to Bakersfield.

One of the big question marks surrounding the release is what we can expect from the inevitable post-credits teaser scene. Iron Man 3 cleverly subverted such expectations by ending on a jokey note, but Dark World‘s final mystery scene looks to give audiences who weren’t in attendance at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con at Marvel’s next big movie gamble – August 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

And Dark World director Alan Taylor ain’t too happy about that.

Joss Whedon Rewrote Portions Of Thor: The Dark World

As director and creative consultant for Marvel Studios, Joss Whedon has a lot of pull. He oversees the operations of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and as such will be the go-to person when a director needs help with the vision of a film.

When Alan Taylor called for a couple of reshoots for Thor: The Dark World, some worried that there was trouble on the set. But it wasn’t that at all, in fact it was Taylor having some minor trouble with grasping the vision of the script. So the filmmaker called none other than Whedon to help with that vision.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Back in June, we reported that the fifth Terminator film was confirmed to be a reboot and standalone from the first four films, which contradicted Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s previous statements. Annapurna Pictures purchased the rights to the film, and Paramount will help with the distribution. At the time, screenwriters Laeta Kalorgridis (Avatar, Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) were the only ones attached to the project. But now the film has found its director.

Variety has confirmed that Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones and Thor: The Dark World) will direct the untitled Terminator film. Hit the jump for more details.

Watch Now: The Second Trailer For Marvel’s ‘Thor: The Dark World’

Thor: The Dark World Header

Amid all the reported behind the scenes problems and reshoots, Thor: The Dark World looks mildly impressive, expanding the Marvel Cinematic World by exploring new realms. A second trailer has been released for the sequel, which you can watch here below.

Like every Marvel hero, there is some force that puts the world or their love interest in some sort of danger, and only he has the power to stop it. There are epic worlds, amazing set pieces, and let’s not for get the action sequences. All those epic battles and threats of multi-realm destruction, and still we do not know what Maliketh (Christopher Eccleston) has planned for Thor in this new movie. We briefly see him make a threat to someone very close to Thor in the first trailer, but other than that, we don’t quite know what his motivation is. Which is fine. I think it worked wonderfully for Iron Man 3.

Thor: The Dark World

Even in the Marvel Universe, when you’re an ageless Norse god of thunder who can ride the lightning like no one’s business and call a living heavy metal album cover home, you can still tick off your girlfriend.

“Thor still has lot of explaining to do, and a lot of making up,” said Chris Hemsworth, the star of Thor: The Dark World, the next movie in Marvel Studios’ Phase Two line-up following next month’s Iron Man 3. “Even demigods end up in the doghouse, mate. So none of us is safe.”

Speaking to Bryan Alexander of USA Today, Hemsworth and Marvel’s president of production Kevin Feige discussed some modest details of the plot of the Alan Taylor-directed sequel – mostly regarding the relationship between the mighty Thor and his earthbound sweetheart Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), whom he was forced to abandon at the end of the first movie.

As you see in the still below, Portman’s character gets to spend a little time with Thor in Asgard when events on her home planet insist.
