Ben 10

Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 is probably one of the ripest animated series that could be adapted into a feature-length film. Since its debut back in 2005, the show would eventually spawn three spinoff series, five made-for-TV films, and hoards of merchandise that is not limited to toys, video games, and t-shirts. Now it has reached the peak: a full-length feature film. The franchise has finally found its screenwriter to adapt a screenplay for its first ever film.

THR reports that Ryan Engle has been tasked with adapting the screenplay for the film. He’ll be working on a draft that was previously written by Albert Torres (Henry Poole Is Here). Engle’s name may sound unfamiliar due to the fact that his script On A Clear Day was on the infamous Black List. That was his ticket into some bigger titles as he has since been penning the scripts for New Line’s adaptation of the Rampage video game and New Regency’s The New West, based on a comic from Black Bull Media.

At that point, Children of Men, Iron Man, and Cowboys and Aliens writing duo Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby were working on the script, but it sounds like now a change has been made. In an interview with Collider, producer Andrew Lazar talked all things Akira. Among the things discussed, he shared that the new writer working on the project is Albert Torres. Also, that the first of the proposed two films would be based on parts 1-3 of the manga, and the second of course will focus on parts 4-6.
