In 2007, Frank Darabont brought Stephen King‘s novella The Mist to the big screen and created one of the most jaw-dropping horror films in memory. The story was simple enough: a mysterious mist engulfs a small Maine town. The townfolk flock to a supermarket as monsters begin devouring those left outside. The monsters from the mist end up producing monsters inside as the people quickly turn to fanaticism and violence on each other. The film’s ending is one of legends. I won’t spoil it, but those in my theater were left speechless and motionless throughout the entire credits. A decade later, Danish writer/director Christian Torpe brings the King work to the small screen for a ten-episode run on Spike TV. The Mist is the first of three major adaptations of King’s work coming this year with The Dark Tower due out in theaters in August and the remake of It in September.

Spoilers below for the last 2 episodes of Vikings:

Ragnar told Ivar (Travis Fimmel, Alex Høgh Andersen) he was destined to become greater than everyone, and to use his gifts to ascend to that greatness. He also commanded him in a whisper to seek revenge not on Aelle (Ivan Kaye), but Ecbert (Linus Roache). Ivar and Athelstan’s son formed a connection akin to the beginning of Ragnar and Athelstan’s bond. Ecbert is really upset at the thought of handing him over. On the journey, a blind man (who turned into the Seer-John Kavanagh) said he could “see” Ragnar. Aelle tortured Ragnar to get him to ask for absolution. He refused. He thought about his life, his loves. As he was about to be lowered into a pit of snakes, he made a speech about the glories of Valhalla, and then dropped. Ragnar Lothbrok was dead.

Last time on Vikings, Ragnar scrounged up men for his journey to Wessex, paying them with his death riches. There was a sacrificial feast in honor of Bjorn’s journey to the Mediterranean. Lagertha was quite hostile towards Aslaug, who was in a daze. Aslaug tried to keep Ivar from going with Ragnar, but there was no dissuading him. He needed to finally feel like a man. The episode ended with Ivar drowning, as in Aslaug’s vision.

Last time on Vikings, “The Outsider” was both Ragnar and Ivar (Travis Fimmel, Alex Høgh Andersen), as they share a deep loneliness… Ragnar, for his self-imposed exile and pretty much always marching to his own crazy beat, and Ivar, for being alive and cripple in a viking society. Ivar spent much of the episode trying to prove himself to his brothers in every way. Ragnar went to Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) and their reunion was full of love and tears. Ragnar went to Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick) and their reunion was tender. Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) intended to go to the Mediterranean with Floki to seek his fame and fortune. After a long delay, Ragnar wanted to go to Wessex and invade, inviting Ivar to go with him.
