Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper

February 3, 1959 – it was a tragic day in music history indeed. It was the day that music lost some of its shining, most earliest influential figures, men who opened the floodgates and created some of the blueprints that formed, shaped, and created rock and roll: Ritchie Valens, The “Big Bopper”, and the bespectacled skinny kid, who created rock and roll arrangements which still get used, drawn and quartered, becoming etching and drafting tools in a way for the entire schematic of that genre, Buddy Holly.

It was on February 3, 1959, near Clear Lake, Iowa, that the single engine 1947 Beechcraft airplane carrying the aforementioned musicians crashed during a past-midnight run in which there was rather inclement, icy conditions. The men had earlier been part of a Winter Party Dance Tour, which was making its way across the country. After finishing the gig, Holly had been frustrated with the conditions of a tour bus that he and his cohorts had been using, one which was not equipped for the cold winter weather which gripped the Midwest and Great Plains that year. He finally decided to rent an airplane to jettison himself and whoever wanted to accompany him, to the following gigs.

Prometheus

When movies make money, the studios behind them make sequels. This is no secret. And with the summer’s biggest movies now behind us, it’s time to start looking at which of the movies we’ve seen released over the course of the past few months might be getting sequels.

Some are obvious, while others might come as a bit of a surprise. Continue reading to see what studios are looking at for potential sequels and which talent is already locked in.

American Reunion

The ultra-teaser photobooth trailer released for American Pie 4 at the start of September didn’t show off a whole lot of anything, but did act a nostalgia spark for fans of the (non-straight-to-video) series.

But now some real trailers for the movie, more officially titled American Reunion, have been released, and you can check them both out now by heading on below. Be warned: one of the trailers is the RED BAND, and can be considered NSFW.

Photobooth Teaser Trailer For ‘American Pie 4’ Released Online

The first teaser trailer for American Pie 4, titled American Reunion, has been released online by Universal Pictures.

The trailer is about as teaser as they come, only showing a bunch of photobooth pictures of the returning cast to a song all too familiar to American Pie fans. For those who don’t care about this fourth installment in the franchise (not counting all of those unwatchable straight–to–video spinoffs), the teaser will likely be pretty boring. But for those of you (like myself) who were around the same age as the characters when the first movie hit in 1999, there’s a nice little touch of nostalgia to be had here (and hopefully in the final product).

You can read a synopsis and see the teaser trailer for American Reunion by heading on over to the other side now.

‘American Pie Presents: The Book of Love’ Trailer

I absolutely love the American Pie franchise, especially since it stars one of my favorite comedic actors ever, Mr. Eugene Levy.

After the original R-rated trilogy movies were released in theaters, the franchise shifted to the direct-to-DVD market with their American Pie Presents line. Now, coming out on DVD, Blu-ray, and digital download on December 22, 2009 is the latest installment, American Pie Presents: The Book of Love, available in both Rated and Unrated versions.

CraveOnline has both the standard and uncensored trailers for the film, which sees Levy’s return as the wannabe insightful dad Noah Levenstein, along with a story about three high school virgins who find a “legendary guide to seduction” at their school library. Unfortunately, it’s missing a few pages, which leads the sex-obsessed boys on a crazy journey to lose their virginity and reconstruct this sexual “Bible.”

Apparently, the Book of Love has a bunch of celebrity cameos, like Bret Michaels and one that totally caught my eye — C. Thomas Howell, my first celebrity crush! Now I’m really curious what he’ll be doing in the film.

See below for synopsis, casting, and DVD/Blu-ray details.
