Bryan Fuller With Vampire Chronicles Author Anne Rice and Christopher Rice

It’s been a hell of a past handful of years for Bryan Fuller. He was creator and showrunner on Hannibal, which ran from 2013 to 2015. He was creator and showrunner on Star Trek: Discovery, a dream job for him, before having to step down as showrunner. He was co-creator and co-showrunner on American Gods with Michael Green, before they departed as showrunners in November. He’s been working on a reboot of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories for Apple.

It wasn’t clear exactly why Fuller decided to walk away from American Gods. Considering it was both he and Green at the same time sounds a lot like creative differences with the studio. But we may now know of another reason. It’s been announced that Fuller has joined the creative team developing The Vampire Chronicles, a TV series based on author Anne Rice‘s book series of the same name, which began with Interview with the Vampire in 1976. This is another dream job for Fuller, as you can read about in the announcement below.

Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra by Anne Rice, Christopher RIce

Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra
Ramses The Damned #2
Paperback | Kindle | Audiobook
By Anne Rice & Christopher Rice
Publisher: Anchor Books
Release Date: November 21, 2017

The Mummy, or Ramses the Damned is my favorite of all things Anne Rice. For almost thirty years, I have loved that novel. The elegance and horror that exist side by side on those pages embodies everything I look for in a book. In no way is it the perfect example of any particular writing style or genre; instead it is a spectacular balance of the greatness that is needed to create a classical work of prose.

So you can only begin to imagine how ecstatic I was to learn that Rice was reviving these characters for a new release titled Ramses the Damned: The Passion of Cleopatra. This was to be a dream come true, literally (pun intended).

Anne Rice The Vampire Chronicles books

It was over two years ago that Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment optioned the rights to Anne Rice‘s Vampire Chronicles with the intent to make film adaptations from the popular novels. Now, the author has revealed that the theatrical rights to the books are back in her hands, and she plans to bring the story to television.

Rice posted to her Facebook page that she and her writer son Christopher Rice will be developing a pilot script, as well as a detailed outline, for an open-ended Game of Thrones-style television series that will be faithful to the tale of the vampire Lestat. This is the opposite of the potential Twilight-like franchise Universal reportedly had been aiming for when they held the rights.

U Umlaut

A town hall debate today that included Republican frontrunners Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, which was to have focused on what was referred to as “an attack on America’s core values,” took a strange turn when the two contenders actually joined together for a 40-minute rant about the dangers of the umlaut.

Yes, you read that correctly. The umlaut. For more information, continue reading.

Anne Rice The Vampire Chronicles books

Anne Rice‘s Vampire Chronicles will make its return to the big screen, thanks to Universal Pictures, which just picked up the filming rights to the popular novel series for Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment, according to Variety.

Star Trek writers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci will produce the films, which will include the adapted screenplay written by Rice’s son, author Christopher Rice, for the fourth novel, Tale of the Body Thief that Grazer and Imagine had optioned back in 2012.

In an announcement earlier this year that delighted many, Rice revealed that her next book, Prince Lestat: The Vampire Chronicles (due out this October), will see the return of vampire Lestat de Lioncourt and will be a sequel to her first five vampire books through the fifth novel, 1995′s Memnoch the Devil, and is a “true sequel” to 1988′s Queen Of The Damned.
