Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children

There is one thing you can count on from Tim Burton, and it’s that he has a knack for bringing out the art from the strange narrative. Though his most recent work has been a bag of mixed results, the filmmaker has stayed true to his style, never once wavering from it. And that really shows in the first new trailer for Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children.

The film is an adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name. Considering its title and plot, it seems like Burton was born to direct this film, which centers on a boy who is tasked with protecting a refuge for children with unusual abilities from those who seek to expose their sanctity. Check out the full trailer below, along with a poster for the movie.

Brandon Lee in The Crow

Last week, Relativity was forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy after being hit with lawsuits and missing numerous payments. The studio was forced to lay off 75 of its 350 employees on staff, and now their troubles are leaking over to their films. Though they will release Masterminds and Kidnap, the future of their other films in pre-production is unknown, and will most likely be put on hold or sold to other studios and producers, until Relativity can figure a way out of their mess. One of the biggest films that was in pre-production was experiencing a bit of trouble itself. According to new reports, pre-production on The Crow reboot is now stalled.

Spider-Man Header Image

At first it looked like Asa Butterfield was going to get the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man for the upcoming reboot. For the past couple of weeks, actors have been testing for the role since filming for Captain America: Civil War started last month, with many reporting that Butterfield was one of the major frontrunners. However, with no official confirmation from either Marvel or Sony, it looks like the casting process is a bit more problematic.

Now comes word that the Ender’s Game actor may not be under consideration anymore, and that Tom Holland (The Impossible), Charlie Plummer (Boardwalk Empire), and Matthew Lintz (Pixels) are the new frontrunners for Spider-Man. It also appears that Marvel Studios and Sony are unable to come to an agreement as to who could play the webslinger.

Spider-Man

The search for Spider-Man may be over according to a new rumor from none other than the Latino Review. According to them Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) is your new webslinger. While he does look like he fits the high school profile that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is looking for, he isn’t necessarily the target age of 15 – 16 they wanted. That being said, Butterfield’s youth should be enough to keep the audience believing that he is a high schooler.

Sony has been searching for an actor to play the new Spider-Man ever since they announced that they would be rebooting the character. Previous reports confirmed that the studio wanted to focus on Peter Parker balancing his life as a high school student while being a superhero. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said the ideal range for the character would be around “15-16” and rumored tests with Weeds star Mateus Ward gave us an idea that they wanted an actor who would be able to truly represent that age.

Now in a new report, Sony is said to have settled on at least five actors. They are: Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothée Chalamet, and Liam James.
