A happy belated Canada Day to all my friends north of the border and a happy early Independence Day to all my friends in the U.S. Hope you all get to enjoy a nice three-day weekend, unless you have to work, which I can’t really help you with. What I can help you with is comics, specifically what comics to buy this week. So celebrate your freedom by supporting capitalism in all its glory and buying some comics. It’s what Cap and Supes and especially the U.S. Agent want you to do. And if you want to make them sad this week that’s fine, all you have to do is ignore the advice of The GoD List!

Each and every week, I, “Mr. Freeze“, and “Captain Cold“ Empress Eve read a lot of comics. Seriously you guys, a lot of comics. Maybe too many comics. I mean, it is possible… theoretically. Naturally, we look forward to some more than others. I mean, who doesn’t? It’s another jam packed week with tons of new series from Marvel (All-New Invaders, Image (Deadly Class), DC (Harley Quinn #2), and the return of The Unwritten from Vertigo with Unwritten Vol. 2 Apocalypse #1. There’s also the end of a much loved series (at least by me) with the final issue of FF (FF #16). So you’ve got that, plus new issues of Mind MGMT, a great jumping-on point for Valiant’s Eternal Warrior, as well as the first trade for the same series. And then we’ve got the books below which are all more than worth your time and money, so let’s dive on in to an all new GoD List!

Single issues and trades, they’re all here.

Well, we’re back after a nice holiday break, and once again we’re ready to bring you a hot stack of comics to pick up this week. It’s been a pretty wild couple of weeks so we’re going to play a little catch up today with books that you may have missed while we were gone. Also, remember that comics are out a day early this week because of the New Year’s holiday, so if you’re planning to go to your local store on Wednesday (New Year’s Day), double check that they won’t be closed that day. And if they are open that day, maybe bring them a little bit of hangover food and remember to use your indoor voice, because they may be a little worn out from partying. So, without further ado, it’s time to let old acquaintance be forgot, and never brought to mind, because it’s time for The GoD List!

It’s another one of those weeks where a lot of my favorite series have new issues, but we also get a few new series to sink our teeth into. And sadly we see the end of a series that just couldn’t find its audience. We’ve got all that plus so much more, so let’s not waste anymore time as we get ready for another edition of The GoD List!

Free Comic Book Day Is May 4th, 2013, Here’s What To Look For

Free Comic Book Day

It’s time once again for another glorious Free Comic Book Day! It’s that most special day of the year when you can stroll down to your local comic book dispensary and partake in any number of comics (usually 3, unless you’re in the Underoo set, in which case most good stores will load you up), all for the price of nothing. It’s a great day to celebrate comics and to say thank you to your friendly neighborhood comic book store, and for them to say thanks to you. Many stores will be having special signings and appearances from local comic book people, or some other kind of festivities, so be sure to find a local store, even if you’re not a big comic fan. And bring the kids along if you have any. Any good store will have activates with them in mind, and you can maximize the free stuff you get if you bring a child with you.

And if you are a big fan already, try to buy something from the store you go to on Free Comic Book Day. I know that sounds like it defeats the purpose of the day, but the stores have costs associated with getting the comics they had out, and the owners sure will appreciate putting a little money in the coffers to recoup those costs.
