Film Quotes of 2012

2012 was a fantastic year for movies. Films like The Dark Knight Rises and Marvel’s The Avengers entertained audiences with blockbuster action sequences and the ultimate in childhood wish fulfillment, while movies such as Drew Goddard‘s Cabin in the Woods and Gareth Edward‘s The Raid: Redemption will long be remembered as putting the nail in the coffin of their respective genres.

We saw new films from acclaimed directors like Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, Ang Lee, David O. Russell, Paul Thomas Anderson, William Friedkin, Steven Soderbergh, Ben Affleck, Sam Mendes, and Kathryn Bigelow. Not to mention the latest offerings from Rian Johnson, Joss Whedon, Richard Linklater, and newcomers Colin Trevorrow, Benh Zeitlin, and Stephen Chbosky.

So many memorable characters – so many great lines delivered by talented actors inhabiting their roles. Here are some of the best (and a few of the worst) film quotes from 2012. Feel free to include your own in the comments! You can also check out my Top 25 Films of 2012 here!

Bane

Audiences never knew how the Jonathan Crane became the Scarecrow or how the Joker really got those scars, and they will probably never know the true story behind Bane. But a recent interview reveals what could have been Bane’s back story in The Dark Knight Rises. Check it out below.

Much like the previous Batman villains in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy, there was no explanation as to who Bane was or how he came to be. Sure The Dark Knight Rises hints at it once, but it is so subtle and so late into the film, that when it does appear, there is just not enough time to process it. Time constraints and numerous plots prevented Nolan from truly fleshing out his story. Now, a new interview from costume designer Lindy Hemming hints at how Bane would have been introduced into the film properly.

Five Batman Villains

When Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) and Dr. Jonathan Crane (The Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy) appeared as villains in Christopher Nolan‘s 2005 film, Batman Begins, it was obvious that this Dark Knight series would be a drastic departure from the previous Batman movies by Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher.

Sadly, Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy has come to an end, and after a heartfelt farewell letter it’s obvious he won’t be revisiting Gotham City any time soon. There’s still hope, however, that instead of rebooting the Batman franchise (and minimizing Nolan’s masterful trilogy), Warner Bros. will find a way to continue the story and put a new twist on some classic villains.

Below are 5 Batman Villains Who Deserved The Christopher Nolan Treatment – impractical, fantastical, altogether colorful bad guys who could be effectively re-worked as gritty, reality-based foes for the Dark Knight…

Real Or Fake: ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Viral Videos Hint At Arkham Asylum Breakout

The Movie God   |  @   |

A few new short videos have hit the web, and they have people trying to figure out whether they’re part of Warner Brothers’ viral marketing campaign for director Christopher Nolan‘s massive trilogy-maker, The Dark Knight Rises, or if they’re just a crafty fan helping to add some buzz to the movie.

All three videos were posted on YouTube by a user called The Fire Rises, which is the same name on Twitter that revealed the first image we saw of Tom Hardy as Bane not too long ago. Each video is very chaotic and hard to follow, but they do suggest that there has been a massive breakout at the infamous Arkham Asylum, and that anarchy now reigns. All three videos also use that haunting chant we heard on the official Dark Knight Rises website…which, interestingly enough, doesn’t seem to be there anymore.

You can see all three videos for yourself by clicking on over to the other side now, and let us know whether you think they’re real (and effective), or completely fake.

His first role as Lethbridge-Stewart was in The Web of Fear opposite Patrick Troughton‘s Second Doctor, and his final role in the Doctor Who universe was along with Elisabeth Sladen in a 2008 episode of The Sarah Jane Adventures entitled Enemy of the Bane.

Aside from Doctor Who, Courtney has made his mark in other television series over the years, including Escape, The Avengers, All Creatures Great and Small, and Yes Prime Minister.
