Bad Santa Infographic
After recording the Christmas Movies episode of Flix of Doom earlier this month, I found out that my mother’s favorite Christmas movie is Bad Santa. Yes, the movie starring Billy Bob Thornton.
Am I little bit disturbed by this? Sure, but hey, plenty of people have told me it’s a cool movie, so I guess I’d better get around to checking it out soon.
Apparently, Mama’s not the only fan of Bad Santa. The folks over at LocateTV have created a fun Christmas-themed infographic called “Bad Santa” which has some behind-the-scenes trivia of on some of the most popular Christmas films, including Bad Santa, It’s A Wonderful Life, Elf, and more.

Faster
Directed by George Tillman, Jr.
Starring Dwayne Johnson, Billy Bob Thornton, Carla Gugino, and Maggie Grace
Castle Rock Entertainment/CBS Films
Release date: November 24, 2010
The ads for Faster would lead you to believe that the film is a simple action movie with a revenge plot, a concept that has been used since the early days of cinema. However, Faster is a revenge plot with more twists and turns than a NASCAR race. Former WWE wrestler Dwayne Johnson plays the character known only as Driver. We see him being released from prison. During his “exit interview,” the warden shows pictures of wounded inmates that crossed his path. This sequence cleverly establishes Driver’s “badassery” and foreshadows the carnage to come. Driver and his brother pulled a bank robbery, but someone close to them set them up to be robbed by another group of criminals. Driver’s brother is murdered while he survives the robbery and goes to jail. While in prison, Driver has had people keeping tabs on the men involved in his brother’s killing. Almost immediately upon release, Driver begins exacting vengeance on these people. In the beginning, Driver is a remorseless killing machine, drawing the attention of Detective Cicero (Carla Gugino), who reluctantly teams up with Cop (Billy Bob Thornton) to track down Driver and end his killing spree.

Has Jamie Foxx Joined Bruce Willis For ‘Kane & Lynch’ Movie?
As a video game, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men wasn’t the most popular ever to be developed. It also didn’t help at all that the team that made it is the same team responsible for the eternally popular Hitman game series, which hasn’t offered us a new installment in far too long, much to the dismay of its many fans.
Even in the mediocre showing of Kane & Lynch, a movie based on the game has always been in the works, with superstar Bruce Willis attached to star as Kane for just as long. Willis’s involvement went from expected to confirmed back in October, but we’ve wondering since then who would be playing the role of Lynch.
According to screenwriter Kyle Ward, we now have an answer to that question, and that role will be filled by Jamie Foxx.

Friday Night Lights
Blu-ray Edition (2004)
Starring Billy Bob Thornton, Derek Luke, Tim McGraw
Directed by Peter Berg
Universal Home Entertainment
Release Date: January 6, 2009
Coming from a big city, I have yet to encounter true football country. Sure, when the New York Giants or the New York Jets have a great season, there is definite playoff excitement in the air but when the games are over, the city continues. It moves on and moves onto the next sport on the list. For some towns and some cities, the whole area lives and breathes football whether the season is on or not. The town of Odessa, TX, is certainly one of these types of towns and their Permian Panthers is the subject of the 2004 movie Friday Night Lights, now on Blu-ray.
The year is 1988 and the Permian Panthers with coach Gary Gaines (Billy Bob Thornton) are beginning their new season and things are starting out terribly. Their star player James “Boobie” Miles gets hurt at the end of a game and is unable to play for the rest of the season. Gaines’ decision to leave Miles in the game is questioned by the entire town and he slowly drops out of their favor. Gaines’ players have their own problems to deal with, ranging from drunk abusive fathers to unbalanced mothers who need care. With all this stacked up against them the Panthers still found something within themselves to produce a rather successful football season.

Eagle Eye
2-Disc Special Edition
Directed by D.J. Caruso
Starring Shia Labeouf, Michelle Monaghan, Rosario Dawson, Michael Chiklis, Billy Bob Thornton
Paramount Home Entertainment
Released Date: December 27, 2008
Eagle Eye is the next adventure in technological thriller genre, following Jerry Shaw (Shia Labeouf) who after the death of his twin brother Ethan finds a bunch of money in his bank account and an apartment full of military gear and weaponry. Almost immediately, he’s contacted by a mysterious woman’s voice who tells him to leave immediately, the FBI is coming to arrest him. He, of course, think she’s insane and ignores the warning, only to be quickly arrested and interrogated thoroughly by Agent Tom Morgan (Billy Bob Thornton). After this, he’s contacted again by the mysterious voice and this time, not surprisingly, he’s a little more believing, although still very skeptical. She leads him on a daring and dangerous escape where he ultimately meets up with Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan), who is also being directed by the voice, who is threatening that if Rachel doesn’t do what she’s told, her son will be murdered. From then on out, the two follow the voice’s instructions, while trying to figure out what it wants and what’s going on, as well as how it ties to Jerry’s deceased twin brother.
Eagle Eye is the embodiment of what a modern day action movie is. The incredible amount of technology used as the framing for the story sets the table perfectly for that sort of sub-genre.
